World Day for Safety and Health at Work
The World Day for Safety and Health at Work takes place each year on April 28, and has been observed since the year 2003. Its purpose is to promote healthy, safe and decent work. Here at Abengoa, we could not overlook this date as we are convinced that people come first and are the most important asset.
The 28th Abril is set aside by the International Labour Organization (ILO)as World Day for Safety and Health at Work,and aims to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally. It is an awareness-raising campaign intended to focus international attention on emerging trends in the field of occupational safety and health.
” April 28, 2017: World Day for Safety and Health at Work that focuses on the importance of collecting and utilizing OSH data.
This year, the theme focuses on the critical need for countries to improve their capacity to collect and utilize reliable occupational safety and health (OSH) data. With the aim of facilitating this task, the ILO has compiled a toolbox with all the relevant resources, as well as a set of fact sheets.
World Day for Safety and Health at Work is included in the ILO Global Strategy which promotes the furthering of an occupational safety and health culture for everybody involved. Consequently,in many parts of the world, national authorities, trade unions, workers’ organizations and safety and health professionals organize activities to mark this date.

This international day aims to raise awareness, draw attention to and even highlight the fact that there is still a problem that requires a solution, and that there is an important issue still pending in society, so that governments and states take necessary action and measures, or so that citizens themselves demand such solutions from those who represent them.
