The European Week for Safety and Health at Work

Share

As usual in previous years, and promoted by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, during the month of October (week 43 of the calendar) the European Week of Safety and Health is celebrated, being the awareness of workers during the handling of dangerous substances the thematic focus defined for 2018-2019.

In Abengoa, we could not miss this appointment and join this event, since we are convinced that the first and most important are the people. In this sense, we are fully aware that poor risk management during the use of hazardous substances could result in a health condition for workers.

We are usually exposed to hazardous substances at work, so we must act rigorously before them.

It should be noted that hazardous substances are commonly found in many work environments. Such exposures are more common than most people imagine, which makes it necessary to act rigorously during the handling of these substances, promoting key aspects such as proper identification (labeling and safety data sheets), control of exposure (minimization of quantities, information training, protective equipment and adequate health surveillance), and carry out an adequate risk assessment.

Abengoa, aware that the first thing is people, develops a corporate health plan every year.

Ensuring the health of our workers is a strategic aspect within the company and good proof of this is that, for the second consecutive year, we have launched a corporate health plan, unifying the various promotions of physical, psychological and social actions, promoting a safe and healthy environment for employees and the company.

In Abengoa the first and most important are people and, therefore, our commitment to the Safety and Health of all who are part of it or collaborate with us, is maximum. Our goal is Zero Accidents, and for this, we work firmly based on our principles of: Leadership and Management, Integration, Training, Continuous Improvement and Legality that make up our Safety and Health Policy.

‘’Abengoa is firmly committed to achieving the Zero Accidents Objective. You First: Committed to safety and health”

Alberto de Vicente, director of Safety and Health of Abengoa.
